What is the average student to teacher ratio?
Pre-Kindergarten 3 and 4 year olds - 10:1 with an aide
Kindergarten - 15:1 with an aide
First through Eighth - 20:1
What are the school hours?
All classes, Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth grade run from
8:00 am until 2:30 pm. Students may be dropped off as early
as 7:30 am without being charged for Morning Care and must
be picked up by 2:45 pm, or they will be sent to Afternoon Care.
Does ECS offer transportation or extended care?
ECS has one 15 passenger van that runs 2 routes morning and
afternoon. There is limited space available based on location
and first come first serve. The school does offer Morning Care
(from 6:30 am until 7:45 am) and Afternoon Care (from 2:30 pm
until 6:00 pm) for registered ECS students. See Fee Schedule
for prices.
Does ECS offer Chapel and Bible Curriculum?
Students participate in a morning devotional every day and in
Chapel once a week. Each grade
level teaches Bible as part of
it's curriculum.
Do students participate in standardized testing?
All students from Kindergarten through Eighth grade take
the Stanford Achievement Test, 10th Edition each spring.
Are computers available in each classroom?
Computers are available in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Kindergarten, 7th grade and 8th grade have one computer
per classroom. 1st grade through 6th grade have 3 computers
per classroom. All computers are networked and have Internet
access. There are filters for the Internet within the network. The
classroom teacher closely monitors all student computer use.
Each student and his/her parent must sign an Internet User
Permission form at the beginning of each school year.
Does ECS have a cafeteria?
Yes, ECS has an Escambia County Board of Health approved
cafeteria, which offers a variety of items that may be purchased
for lunch. (See Cafeteria Menu) Students from Kindergarten
through Eighth Grade go to the cafeteria at their appointed
lunch times. Pre-Kindergarten students are served lunch in
their classrooms.
Does ECS have a library?
Yes we have an excellent library and a full-time librarian.
The library has books for all grade levels, all books are
Accelerated Reader approved. Classes make a scheduled
library visit each week. Students may also come at any
time to exchange books.
What is Accelerated Reader™?
Accelerated Reader™ is a computer based supplemental
reading program that is designed to encourage independent
reading and improve comprehension for each student.
- Student Reads a Book. Students choose books at their
appropriate reading levels and read them at their own
pace.
- Student Takes a Quiz. Accelerated Reader Enterprise
offers more than 140,000 quizzes to help motivate and
monitor students’ reading performance and vocabulary
growth.
- Student Gets Information. Students get immediate
feedback on their reading and vocabulary progress.
Does ECS offer music?
All students attend a choral music class weekly, from which
they learn the music for our Christmas Musical and our
Spring Musical.
Does ECS offer P.E. classes?
All Elementary classes (grades 1-5) have P.E. classes several
times each week. Students participate in Mileage Club, Jump
Rope for Heart as well as free play. Middle School has P.E.
classes 3 days a week and they learn the rules and how to
play
various sports, such as volleyball, basketball, softball, etc.
Does ECS offer Extracurricular Activities?
ECS believes in whole person participation (body, soul and mind).
To this end, all students are encouraged to participate in several
service projects (various food banks, Toys for Tots, buying items
for residents of retirement homes, etc.). ECS is also a member
of West Florida Christian Conference which is a sports league
comprised of 6-7 various private schools in Pensacola. Students
in grades 4-8 may participate in basketball and cheerleading.
Students in grades 6-8 may participate in volleyball and softball.

Yes, the handbook contains general information about ECS,
general policies, academics, and code of behavior.
